Botelho creates sculptures in iron derived from plates, wire and recycled iron, with cuts, folds and juxtapositions that enhance the relationships between the iron sides. The use of rust and twisted iron creates diverse reflections. Botelho’s work investigates the dynamics of form, placing it in relation to space through joint volumes and voids, which create a two-dimensional reality and a suggestion of three-dimensionality that gives a more suggestive and concrete expression.

Each of Botelho’s works is original and exclusive. Canvases are textured with acrylic paint, void of figurative representation, and seek only their original value of artistic expression. Botelho’s strong colors replace the lines of academic drawing and investigate the values of color, space and composition.
